Unwanted Furniture Disposal
Clear what you are not taking — donated, recycled or removed, as part of the same job
Clear what you are not taking — donated, recycled or removed, as part of the same job
Unwanted furniture disposal is the part of a move most people leave until the day itself, when it becomes a pile in the driveway and someone’s problem. Handled a week earlier it is straightforward, and it usually pays for itself.
We clear furniture and appliances you are not taking with you — donated where it is usable, recycled where it is not, and responsibly disposed of where neither applies. Done alongside your move it costs a fraction of arranging it separately.

Removals are priced on volume. Every item you do not take is space you do not pay for, and on a long-distance move that saving is proportional to the distance — which is why customers moving interprovincially frequently find that clearing before the move reduces the quote by more than the clearance costs. The garage, the roof space and the spare room are where this reliably hides.
Usable furniture, appliances and household goods go to charitable organisations rather than to landfill. Beds, couches, tables, wardrobes, working appliances, crockery and linen are all normally accepted provided they are clean and functional. If you want a specific charity to receive the items, tell us and we will route them there where we can; otherwise we use organisations we work with regularly.
Items past use are separated rather than sent as mixed waste. Timber furniture, metal bed frames, appliances and electronics each have their own stream, and electronics in particular should never go to general waste — they contain material that is both recoverable and genuinely harmful in landfill. Mattresses are handled separately again, as they need dedicated processing.
Clearing a family home is a different job from clearing a flat, both practically and personally. There is usually more of it, decisions take longer, and items need to be set aside for different family members rather than sorted into keep and discard. We work to your pace, will hold items for collection by relatives, and can provide an inventory of what was cleared where an executor needs one.
Downsizing is the most common reason for this work outside a move, and the hard part is rarely the furniture — it is deciding. A useful test: if an item has not been used in the last year and would not be bought again today, it is unlikely to be used in a smaller home either. Measure the new rooms before deciding what goes; furniture that worked in a large lounge frequently does not fit at all.
We cannot remove hazardous material — paint, solvents, chemicals, gas bottles, asbestos or medical waste — which need licensed specialist disposal. Garden refuse and building rubble are also outside what we do. If you are unsure about something, ask before the day: it is a short conversation, and it avoids a crew arriving for a job they are not permitted to complete.
Our reasonable rates, careful and personalised service and track record of satisfied customers have made us the ideal choice
for many South African households and businesses needing help with any size and type of move.
Clearance is priced on volume and on whether it happens alongside a move we are already doing:
| Clearance | Typical example | Indicative price |
|---|---|---|
| A few items | An old couch, bed and appliance | from R950 |
| Single room | A bedroom or study cleared | from R1,400 |
| Part house | Garage, roof space and spare room | from R2,400 |
| Full house clearance | Estate or downsizing clearance | from R4,500 |
| Added to a move | Cleared on the same job | Discounted |
Indicative figures for budgeting, not quotes. Clearance booked with a move is materially cheaper than a separate call-out.
The clearances that go smoothly are the ones decided before the crew arrives:
Send photos of the larger items and we can usually quote the clearance without a site visit.
Across Gauteng — Johannesburg, Sandton, Midrand, Randburg, Roodepoort, Pretoria, Centurion, Alberton, Benoni and the East and West Rand. Clearance is most often booked alongside a removal, but we take standalone jobs too, particularly downsizing and estate clearances where there is no move attached.
The cheapest quote is very often the most expensive outcome. An unusually low price generally means no Goods in Transit cover, a casual crew hired that morning, or a figure that grows once your goods are already loaded. We run our own branded fleet with trained permanent crews, we publish our prices, and we quote in writing so the figure agreed is the figure charged. The warning signs are set out in how to avoid moving scams.

Moving a few items rather than a whole home. A single fridge, a bedroom of furniture, a student move or one delicate piece. You pay for the space your goods actually occupy rather than for a whole vehicle, which is what makes it affordable.

Full household removals handled by trained, permanent crews. Packing, wrapping, dismantling and reassembly, loading and offloading, all on our own branded fleet with Goods in Transit cover on every job.

Corporate and SME relocations planned around your downtime, including IT equipment and servers with anti-static handling. We work after hours and over weekends so your business keeps running.

Interprovincial removals to every major centre in South Africa, on shared or dedicated loads. Shared loads cost materially less because you only pay for your share of the vehicle.

Full or partial packing with proper double-walled cartons, bubble wrap, blankets and anti-static materials for electronics. Everything we pack ourselves is covered.

Pianos, safes, artwork, antiques, gym equipment and oversized items that need extra hands, proper equipment and a crew that has moved them before.
We follow a structured process to ensure every move runs smoothly.
Submit your move details using our calculator or inventory checklist.
Our team evaluates the size and requirements of your move.
We schedule the move and allocate the appropriate truck and crew.
Furniture is carefully wrapped and securely loaded onto the truck.
Your items are transported safely to the destination.
We unload and position your furniture at your new location.
Usable items are donated to charitable organisations. Items past use are separated for recycling by material, with electronics and mattresses handled through dedicated streams.
Considerably. Cleared as part of a move we are already doing, it avoids a separate call-out, and it reduces the volume of the move itself.
Yes, tell us and we will route the items there where we can. Otherwise we use organisations we work with regularly.
Yes, including estate and deceased-estate clearances. We can work to your pace, hold items for family collection, and provide an inventory where an executor needs one.
Hazardous material such as paint, solvents, chemicals, gas bottles and asbestos, which need licensed disposal, along with garden refuse and building rubble.
Yes, there is still a charge, because the cost is in the crew, vehicle and time rather than in the item. Donated items simply go somewhere better than landfill.
