Home Furniture Movers
Household removals across Gauteng and nationwide, handled by trained crews on our own fleet
Household removals across Gauteng and nationwide, handled by trained crews on our own fleet
Moving house is one of the few things most people do only a handful of times in their lives, which is exactly why it goes wrong so often. As home furniture movers we do it every day, and almost everything that makes a move stressful is predictable and preventable.
We move households across Johannesburg, Pretoria and the wider Gauteng, and long-distance to every province. Same trained crews, same insured vehicles, same written quote whether you are moving a one-bedroom flat or a five-bedroom estate home.

Almost every household quote comes down to three things, and none of them is how far you are going within a city. The first is volume — how much space your belongings occupy on a truck, which is why two three-bedroom homes can differ by fifty percent. The second is access: stairs, lift availability, how close the truck can park, estate rules and booked moving windows. The third is timing, because month-end and December carry genuine premium demand. Get those three right in the quoting stage and the price you are told is the price you pay.
In our experience the failures cluster. Under-declared volume is the most common: the garage, the roof space and the locked back room get forgotten, and a truck sized for what was described arrives too small. Access surprises are second: a lift that was never booked, a complex that does not permit weekday moves, a driveway a pantechnicon cannot enter. Third is packing done the night before, which is where breakage happens. None of these are mysterious, and all of them are cheaper to solve two weeks out than on the morning.

The difference is rarely strength. It is technique, equipment and accountability. Our crews wrap furniture in blankets and shrink before it moves, dismantle and reassemble beds and flat-pack units, protect door frames and floors, and load so that weight is distributed and nothing shifts in transit. Every job carries Goods in Transit cover. And the price is agreed in writing before we load, which removes the single most common complaint in this industry — a quote that grows once your possessions are already on the vehicle.
Full house moves are our core work, but a large share of what we do is narrower: apartment and sectional-title moves where lift access governs the schedule, estate moves with security clearance and booked windows, student and bachelor moves that suit a small load, senior downsizing where sorting matters as much as carrying, and shared-load moves for households with flexible dates who would rather not pay for a whole truck. Tell us which you are and we will crew and price it accordingly.
Honest answer — do the easy volume yourself and hand over the fragile and awkward items. Books, linen, clothes, toys and non-breakable kitchenware are simple and worth packing to save money. Glassware, mirrors, artwork, electronics and anything genuinely valuable are worth having packed professionally, both because the technique matters and because items we pack are handled under our cover. Most families land on partial packing, and it is usually the right call. See our packing and wrapping services.
Property transfer dates slip constantly, and the gap between vacating one home and occupying the next is the single most common reason households need storage. Arranging it upfront costs far less than scrambling for it mid-move, and when we handle both the move and the storage your goods are only handled once rather than twice. If your dates look even slightly uncertain, raise it at the quoting stage. See storage services.
Timing is one of the few genuine levers you control on price and quality.
| Option | What it is | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Mid-month, mid-week | Best price, best crew availability, most date flexibility | Requires taking leave outside the usual month-end pattern |
| Month-end | Fits most lease and transfer dates | Highest demand, premium pricing, crews stretched |
| December / January | Convenient over the holidays | Peak season nationally, book six weeks ahead |
| Weekend | No leave needed, suits complexes restricting weekday moves | Fills first, so book early |
Our reasonable rates, careful and personalised service and track record of satisfied customers have made us the ideal choice
for many South African households and businesses needing help with any size and type of move.
Eight weeks out is when you should confirm dates and book, because month-end, December and January fill first. Six weeks out is for decluttering, which is the single largest saving available to you — you pay to move volume, so anything you sell, donate or dispose of is money back. Four weeks out is the administrative block: municipality, banks, medical aid, short-term insurance (critical, because household contents cover is address-specific), fibre, security company, schools and SARS. Two weeks out you start packing non-essentials and confirm access at both ends. The final week is for your essentials box and a last walk of every cupboard, the roof space and the garage. Our full moving house checklist sets this out week by week.
Sectional-title and estate moves are governed by rules rather than distance, and those rules are the most common cause of a delayed move. Most complexes require a booked lift slot, and in older buildings a single goods lift is shared by every tenant. Many estates require crew names and identity numbers submitted in advance for security clearance, and restrict moving to certain hours or days. Some require proof of contractor insurance before the truck is admitted at the gate. None of this is difficult, but none of it can be arranged on the morning — start the conversation with your body corporate or estate manager the day your date is confirmed.

Pets and plants do not travel on a removals truck, and this catches people out. Arrange separate transport for animals, and remember that a hot vehicle is genuinely dangerous on a long route. For children, the practical advice from our crews is straightforward: arrange childcare for moving day itself. A house full of open boxes, moving trolleys and propped-open doors is not a safe environment for small children, and the move runs materially faster without them underfoot. Pack a small bag of familiar things for each child so the first night in the new home is not entirely unfamiliar.
Our crew arrives at the agreed time and walks the property with you, so everyone agrees on what is moving and what is staying. Fragile and priority items are flagged and handled first. Furniture is blanket-wrapped and shrink-wrapped before it leaves the room, doors and floors are protected, and beds and flat-pack units are dismantled. Loading is sequenced so weight sits low and nothing shifts. Before the truck departs you check the inventory. At the other end we offload to the room you nominate, reassemble what we dismantled, and do a final walk-through with you before signing off.
We would rather tell you our process than claim nothing ever gets damaged. If an item is damaged in transit, report it as soon as you notice — ideally at delivery, and in writing within a few days. Photograph the item and keep the packaging. We assess, and where the claim is valid it is settled under our Goods in Transit cover. What matters is that there is a written quote, an inventory and a real company behind it, which is exactly what the cheapest informal option cannot offer. Our full process is set out in insurance and claims.

Moving a few items rather than a whole home. A single fridge, a bedroom of furniture, a student move or one delicate piece. You pay for the space your goods actually occupy rather than for a whole vehicle, which is what makes it affordable.

Secure, insured short and long-term storage for when your dates do not line up. Discounted rates when you are already moving with us.

Corporate and SME relocations planned around your downtime, including IT equipment and servers with anti-static handling. We work after hours and over weekends so your business keeps running.

Interprovincial removals to every major centre in South Africa, on shared or dedicated loads. Shared loads cost materially less because you only pay for your share of the vehicle.

Local moves are priced on the size of your home and the access at both ends, not on distance travelled within a metro:

| 1-bedroom apartment | Flat or small apartment | from R1,990 |
| 2-bedroom house | A small family home | from R3,350 |
| 3-bedroom house | A typical family home | from R4,590 |
| 4-bedroom house | Larger homes and estates | from R6,990 |

Our depots in Randburg, Boksburg and Pretoria cover the whole of Gauteng — Johannesburg and the northern suburbs, Sandton, Midrand, Randburg, Roodepoort and the West Rand, the full East Rand from Germiston through to Springs and Nigel, Pretoria and Tshwane including the northern townships, and the southern corridor through Meyerton to the Vaal Triangle. Beyond Gauteng we run regular long-distance routes to every province, with branches in Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Nelspruit, Polokwane and Bloemfontein. A local Gauteng move and a move to Cape Town are priced on completely different bases, so tell us which you need and we will quote the right one.
The cheapest quote in this industry is very often the most expensive outcome. An unusually low price generally means one of four things: no Goods in Transit cover, a casual crew hired that morning, a vehicle too small so the job takes two trips you get billed for, or a “quote” that becomes a much larger invoice once your goods are already loaded. We publish our prices, we quote in writing, and we carry cover on every job. The warning signs are set out in how to avoid moving scams.
A local move is priced on the size of your home and access at both ends. Small loads start from around R1,500, a one-bedroom apartment from R1,990, a two-bedroom house from R3,350, a three-bedroom from R4,590 and a four-bedroom from R6,990. Long-distance moves are priced on volume and route.
Two to four weeks for a local move, and four to six weeks for long-distance or month-end. December and January book out earliest. Booking early also gets you better crews, because the best teams are not stretched across three jobs.
